The Imperial Orgy is a multimedia onslaught of music, video,
artwork, and performance. They are a band playing in clubs, a
protest group confronting Wall Street (see the Daily Bread video),
and a community for artists and musicians. Mr. Pink is the tall,
dark, and devilishly handsome frontman. During live shows, he has
been known to roam the crowd, tempting women to bite from an
apple in his palm. The Imperial Orgy follows his lead and tries their
hardest to break down the boundaries that keep you and me from
partaking in the feast of life.
Available on Ampcast for your listening pleasure,
Caeser Pink and the Imperial Orgy have provided
three tracks representative of their striking diversity.
Mamma Down is a funk-laden, booty-shaking affair
with horn riffs reminiscent of the JB's. Mr. Pink, who
usually does a fantastic Robert Plant, even throws in
a grunt or two that the Godfather would be proud of.
Revival strikes an R&B groove with some soulful
vocals from the ladies and some singing/rapping
from Mr. Pink over a steady hip-hop drumbeat, deep
bass line, and scratchy guitar. The Daily Grind takes
a sharp turn from the other selections, and gives us a spoken word tour of Mr.
Pink's thoughts over a mild collage of sound. Check this one out if posturing
bohemian-wannabes with Amex cards piss you off. The Imperial Orgy is listed
on Ampcast as experimental because their sound has no limitations, which is
the whole idea.
Caeser Pink and the Imperial Orgy want to
blow your mind, but they will be content to
make you stop and think for a second. They've
been attacked by the press and censored by
the religious right, but they've still got
their sense of humor. Check out their website,
www.theimperialorgy.com, and click on Mock
the Imperial Orgy for a picture of Caeser
at age 3 with the caption, "This artsy-fartsy
stuff can all be traced back to bed wetting."
