Bomb sniffing dogs and Wonder Bread for the rich!
The Imperial Orgy's street theatre performance protest piece "Our Daily
Bread" was presented November 19 in the area of the New York Stock
Exchange. "Our Daily Bread" is a comedic social experiment exploring
the issues of materialism and liberty in the modern corporate world.
In the piece, elaborately masked and costumed Orgy members ceremoniously
placed loaves of fresh white bread along the sidewalks of the financial
district with letters from Satan attached
which offered to buy the reader's souls in exchange for the material
possessions won through climbing the corporate ladder.
When faced with the spectacle, the busy executives looked bewildered.
Soon police were called in and bomb sniffing police dogs were put to
the task of inspecting the harmless loaves of bread. When passers by
asked what the event was all about, Orgy members dryly replied that
they were 'distributing food to the rich.'
Confused businessmen read the Satan letter.

Caeser with police
Although reactions to the performance ranged from laughter to anger,
by the end of the day Orgy members were lining up to take photos
with tourists in front of the statue of George Washington (a loaf of
bread was, of course, placed strategically at George's feet,) and the
gray facade of Wall Street was enlivened by the colorful presence of
The Imperial Orgy.
**A special thanks goes out to the friendly people at Wonder
Bread for donating a hundred and twenty loaves of bread
to The Orgy.**
An after event party was held at the Naked Lunch Cafe. During the
party, the Fox network television show 'New York Undercover' was
filming outside the cafe. Soon the actors and crew of the show had
joined the party, and in a small world it was soon realized that a
track from the Orgy's new CD (Pale Beyond The Dream) was written
for a young woman who works on the show as a casting
director.
