SEXUALLY CHARGED, THE IMPERIAL ORGY PROVIDES AN ON-STAGE HAPPENING
- by Fish Altieri - June 1, 2000
Okay, get the kids away from the column. It's time to tell you
about a most original, original band. My mission was simple: decipher,
decode and generally make sense of Caeser Pink and The Imperial
Orgy. Easier said than done. Newsprint doesn't do the band justice.
You really have to see them.
Sexually charged and unabashedly groovy, the band seems to consist
of an onstage party happening right before your eyes. This was
the only band that sent me a video when I normally get demos and
CDs. Looking sort of like an English cousin of Leonardo DiCaprio,
Caeser leads his charges right to the border of camp without ever
crossing. Be sure that this band takes its mission to have a blast
very seriously.
Bronx bassist Eric Mauriello and guitarist Tony DiLullo provide
the band with ample power chops performing under pseudonyms best
not printed in a family paper. The whole thing has a charged sexuality
that is all inclusive. The band's dancing girls are the next door
neighbor types; sexy and unstuck up.
Come see Caeser as he feeds an apple, Roman orgy-style, to a willing
fan. See the gyrations of an adoring audience. Hear the pop-funk
songs keeping the crowd dancing while giving them brain nourishment
in the form of serious lyrical themes mouthed by the confident
lounge singer cool of Caeser. Take a trip to their website, www.theimperialorgy.com
and you will find the makings of a cult happening.
It's on the site that some of the fun seems drained away in favor
of really shoving the message down your throat and I'm not sure
if it was the horse and buggy phone lines or my computer, but
it seemed to load slowly. It is a professional site though, and
I was something like visitor 25,000 and change.
You want to see them right now? Here's a new place for you to
find love rocker! Check them out June 30 at the Spiral at 9PM.
Call the Caeser Pink hotline and get free entry. The opening entry
line to the website sums up the whole band philosophy: An open
celebration of life, love, sexuality and rebellion. And let me
add: Support the music and it supports you!
As always, this humble column can be reached through www.fishaltieri.com
Rock on. Rock out.
